Reliable IT operations – a must for business: MV GROUP’s partnership with Altic IT
When critical IT system disruptions are impacting company trade, logistics, or production operations, and slow response can cost thousands, a reliable IT partner becomes not a choice – but a must.
One of the largest business groups in the Baltics and Lithuania, MV GROUP, operating companies in production, trade, and logistics, learned this from experience. To enhance the quality of IT services provided by external partners, the organization sought a team capable of ensuring the stability of 24/7 business systems, fast response, high-level expertise, and initiative in driving change. That’s how they found Altic IT.
From Frustration to Solution: Why MV GROUP Switched IT Partners?
According to Rolandas Dirgėla, MV GROUP’s IT Director, the scale of operations and organizational complexity required a faster, more competent IT support partner.
“The need to quickly and effectively resolve IT issues was one of the key drivers for change. As the business grew, the demand for faster response times and greater flexibility in adapting to a constantly changing environment became more apparent. That’s why we set a clear goal for the new IT partner – to deliver faster, more efficient, and business-process-oriented support,” shares R. Dirgėla.
MV GROUP entrusted Altic IT with the support of two core ERP systems – Microsoft Dynamics AX – covering infrastructure, databases, integrations, and application services. These systems ensure the smooth functioning of MV GROUP’s core business areas: production, trade, and logistics.
A Unique Solution: Full Information System Support
Marijus Strončikas, CEO of Altic IT, explains that a tailored service was created specifically for this client. The large service scope, the need to support critical systems 24/7, and the requirement to manage multiple third parties led us to create a comprehensive information system support service offering.
“It’s still common in the market for IT providers to handle just servers, operating systems, or basic infrastructure. But for large enterprises, that’s not enough. We took on responsibility for most of the client’s critical IT components – infrastructure, databases, internal automated AX tasks, external integrations, application services – and we maintain them 24/7 to ensure smooth business continuity,” says M. Strončikas.
Altic IT not only monitors standard IT system performance parameters 24/7 and responds promptly to deviations or disruptions, but also ensures all other activities essential for the proper functioning of critical information systems. This includes monitoring internal periodic and “night-time” automated tasks, overseeing data exchange integration services with MV GROUP partners, as well as maintaining the databases performance.
Additionally, Altic IT manages other IT vendors involved in the client’s systems – from developers making ERP changes to external datacenter infrastructure administrators.
“Large companies usually have several providers managing different parts of their information systems. For example, the system might be hosted in one vendor’s data center, network services provided by another, and code changes implemented by a few more. Often, each component works fine on its own, but the whole system underperforms or breaks down. Entrusting full responsibility to a single partner helps maintain end-to-end system stability. Plus, the client doesn’t have to act as a referee between vendors when an issue arises,” adds M. Strončikas.
Trust Earned Through Delivery – Not PowerPoint Slides
Mr. Dirgėla notes that working with Altic IT brought a noticeable quality shift – the ability to handle large-scale projects, high service standards, expert-level skills, and fast response times are among the key benefits.
“Since we started working with Altic IT, the overall quality of daily IT support significantly improved. Response times to tickets and disruptions dropped, we gained access to a wider range of high-level specialists, and large-scale system changes were implemented efficiently,” says R. Dirgėla.
Mr. Strončikas adds that supporting one of Lithuania’s largest business groups is both an honor and a responsibility. Although providing 24/7 support and managing critical systems is a challenge, the two teams have successfully completed unique projects over their three-year partnership.
“To this day, we’re proud of more than one project we’ve delivered. For example, there was a case where MV GROUP’s data volume brought the ERP system dangerously close to its maximum transaction limit. Together with the client and other partners, we successfully carried out a unique project where we quite literally ‘reset the counter’ to allow the system to keep running further beyond that threshold. We’re proud to have earned this client’s trust – not with PowerPoint slides, but with real results,” concludes M. Strončikas.
